DOC JUAN Chapter 40

A/N: The doctor sets out for L.A.in the hopes of winning Elle back👇

Cameo by Billy Connolly as Elle’s dad.

He held the envelope with her address scribbled on it up to his face, reading it before beginning to navigate the streets of  L.A. He’d only just landed and checked into a hotel and was pretty jetlagged at that too, but somehow he couldn’t wait to be reunited with the one he loved even for a minute!
When he finally did manage to locate the timeshare after traversing many a narrow, dangerous looking alleyways, he was left unimpressed by it. It seemed shittier than the previous establishment she’d lived in back in London…An’ smelt twice as bad! When he finally gathered the courage to ring the doorbell, the door was answered by a bespectacled old man donning a floral print shirt, sporting a grey beard and straggly hair who looked like he belonged on some island or at a hippie convention rather than in a timeshare in downtown Los Angeles. The doctor thought he’d reached the wrong apartment, until mumsy showed up at the door…and judging by her daggerlike glare, she wasn’t too happy to see him!
“Where’s Elle? I need to talk to er.” he lost no time in explaining the reason for his arrival, before mumsy had the chance to shower on him the countless insults/ choicest expletives she’d probably saved up to say in case they’d met again! “She doesn’t want ya back. So, get out!” mumsy retorted. “Not unless ya tell me where she is!” he stood his ground, cornering her as she prepared to slam the door in his face. “Are ya the bloke who sent all those letters that this one later burnt?” Elle’s kind dad interrupted before things got more heated up between them.
“Ya burnt my letters?! The letters I sent?! My letters?!?!” he cried out in horror, realizing why she’d never responded to em. “Ya had no right contactin her in any manner. She did not want to be contacted. So, I kept em from her to prevent any further heartbreak…” mumsy began to explain in a motherly tone.  “…Or in fear o’ er returnin to me? Lady, ya messed with the wrong Scot! Now, where is she?! ” he cut her off, fumingly baring his teeth as he spoke. “She left! She was fed up of this one forcin her into the actin career she never had an’ that Elle never wanted. She just up an’ left for London to pursue her true passion- Becomin a nurse an’ lookin after the sick. I was glad to not be the bad person for once!” her dad chimed in, giving away her location while mumsy wished she had scotch tape on her to shut the tattletale up!
“She wouldn’t listen….as usual. Stubborn as hell, she is!” mumsy muttered under her breath.  “Don’t have to tell me. I know a thing or two bout er not listenin!” Dr. Miller seconded, smiling reminiscently on hearing her.  “Now, ya know where she is….Although, I doubt she’ll have ya back! Now, get out before I have ya arrested for trespassin!” mumsy ordered, throwing her hands up in defeat and shooting daggers at her husband now as he waved to his daughter’s lover who took leave of the old couple and their dilapidated apartment. “Gladly!” the doctor yelled after her. He hurried out with a toothy grin pasted on his face, down the stairs and onto the streets, his coat billowing behind him as he hailed a cab, deciding to set out for London since he now had a reason to return to the city.
